A cost-effective, IECEx/ATEX certified 2-wire fixed gas detector for continuous monitoring of oxygen (O₂) from 0–25%VOL with 0.1%VOL resolution. Features IP66/IP67 water/dust resistance, intelligent plug-and-play sensor module, 2-wire 4-20mA analog output, and magnetic wand for non-intrusive configuration. No display version – ideal for integration into existing control systems. Easy one-person installation (only 1.0 kg) with mounting bracket included.
The SG100-X is a cost-effective, intrinsically safe fixed gas detector from the SG100 series, designed for continuous 24/7 monitoring of toxic gases and oxygen. Taking oxygen (O₂) as an example, it uses an electrochemical sensor to measure concentrations from 0–25%VOL with a resolution of 0.1%VOL. Accuracy is ≤ ±2–5% FS (depending on the specific sensor).
The detector is IECEx and ATEX certified with explosion-proof grades Ex db IIC T6 Gb and Ex db ia IIC T6 Gb, making it suitable for hazardous areas (Zone 1 and Zone 2). It features IP66/IP67 water and dust resistance, ensuring reliable operation in harsh environments.
The SG100-X uses a 2-wire 4-20mA analog output – ideal for integration into existing control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) where only two wires are available for both power and signal. This simplifies wiring and reduces installation costs, especially in retrofit applications.
A key feature is the intelligent plug-and-play sensor module – calibration can be performed by simply replacing the sensor module without disassembling the whole unit. The detector is configured via a magnetic wand (non-intrusive), allowing safe menu navigation in explosion areas without opening the enclosure. It comes with a standard mounting bracket and weighs only 1.0 kg, making one-person installation quick and easy.
Note: This version has no display – all configuration and status checking is done via the magnetic wand and 4-20mA signal monitoring.
Oxygen is essential for life, but both oxygen deficiency and oxygen enrichment pose serious risks in industrial environments.
| Condition | Concentration | Health & Safety Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Oxygen Deficiency | <19.5% VOL | Dizziness, rapid breathing, loss of coordination, unconsciousness, death (below 10%) |
| Normal | 20.9% VOL | Safe for normal work |
| Oxygen Enrichment | >23.5% VOL | Increased fire and explosion risk; materials ignite more easily |

The SG100-X fixed oxygen detector is widely used to prevent oxygen deficiency and enrichment hazards in the following environments:
Tanks, silos, pipelines, sewers, manholes, and vaults
Continuous monitoring before and during personnel entry
Alarm when O₂ falls below 19.5% or rises above 23.5% VOL
Process areas, storage tanks, catalyst handling, pipeline pigging stations
Detect oxygen displacement by hydrocarbons or inert gases
Prevent fire/explosion from oxygen enrichment
Reactors, mixing vessels, solvent storage, and distillation columns
Monitor oxygen levels where inert gas purging is used
Protect workers and prevent oxidation reactions
Digesters, headworks, lift stations, sludge holding tanks
Methane and CO₂ produced during digestion displace oxygen
Protect workers during inspection and maintenance
Coal mines, hard rock mines, tunnel boring operations
Oxygen consumed by diesel equipment, blasting, or oxidation of ores
Continuous monitoring along ventilation airways and working faces
Nitrogen-purged packaging lines, cold storage rooms, fermentation vessels
Detect oxygen deficiency in enclosed spaces
